Common Conditions We Treat

← Back To Homepage

When it comes to injuries, we know the list is quite extensive but here are some conditions we commonly see and treat at Integrated Myotherapy.

Headache and Migraines

Did you know that daily headaches and migraines are often caused by referred pain from elsewhere in the body? Quite often the source of pain that triggers headaches and migraines are actually trigger points in the shoulder muscles, which infers pain up the side of the neck and head. When the trigger points are active in these muscles, frequent headaches and migraines are common. Myotherapy employs a number of techniques to deactivate these trigger points and reduce the muscle tension that contributes to headaches and migraines.

Muscle Soreness

Muscles soreness is a natural effect after exercise meaning that your muscles have benefited from the hard workout. The good news is that our myotherapy techniques can work to alleviate tension caused by muscle soreness. MET also plays a vital role for athletes as a preventative measure against injuries. At Integrated Myotherapy, we can work with athletes to incorporate a MET program into pre-game or pre-workout warm ups to ensure a full range of joint motion and reduce the risk of sport injury.

Sport Injuries

Sporting pain is treated with a holistic approach through remedial massage, dry needling, MET and soft tissue treatments. Pain associated with sport injury is commonly experienced in the elbows, shoulders, lower back and knees. At Integrated Myotherapy, we can help strengthen and prevent these common sport injuries.

Back Pain

Back pain can be debilitating and it can happen at any time. Common back pain conditions include disc herniation and sciatica. Back pain is commonly experienced by people who work in an office environment. Myotherapy treatments for back pain include soft tissue, dry needling, spinal mobilisation and exercise prescription.

Elbow Pain

There are 2 types of elbow pain. Tennis Elbow which is felt on the outside of the elbow and Golfer's Elbow which is felt on the inside of the elbow. Both types of elbow pain are caused by repetitive motions done with the wrist and arms. Joint Mobilisation is used to take the pressure off sensitive nerves or tissue, increase range of motion, restore blood flow.

Knee Pain

Knee pain is mostly associated to sport injuries. Quite often knee pain is experienced by athletes who play netball, cycling, basketball and football. At Integrated Myotherapy, we take a holistic approach by loosening your muscles, correcting the patella traction with soft tissue and strengthening exercises.

Ankle Injuries

Ankle injuries almost exclusively occur on the outside ankle (Lateral Ankle Sprain). Myotherapy can assist in ankle injury rehabilitation by increasing the range of motion, rehabilitation through exercise that includes strengthening and proprioception.

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is a broad category of injury. At Integrated Myotherapy, we frequently see rotator cuff tears which can be caused by heavy loading on the shoulder or repeated micro trauma. By utilising a combination of soft tissue treatment, joint mobilisation and strengthening exercises, we can assist in rotator cuff tear rehabilitation.

Tension and Stress

A huge amount of stress is held in your shoulders! Physical stress usually manifests itself through muscle tension. Through soft tissue, cupping or remedial massage, the tension accumulated through physical stress can be relieved. Dry needling is also used to deactivate the trigger knots that can contribute to physical stress.
